MARC Countries list identifies current national entities, states of the United States, provinces and territories of Canada and Australia, divisions of the United Kingdom, and internationally recognized dependencies. The list\'s codes are two- or three-character lowercase alphabetic strings that serve as identifiers. The MARC country codes are not the same as the ISO 3166 country codes, although the lists are entity-compatible so that a simple translation could relate codes for the same entity. The records for the codes contain references to the equivalent ISO 3166 codes.

"Wat zijn vocabulaires? Vocabulaireszijn rijtjes van waarden, die in een bepaald veld gebruikt mogen worden. Het is belangrijk af te spreken welke waarden in welk veld gebruikt worden om de informatie probleemloos uit te kunnen wisselen. In verschillende bestaande en nog in ontwikkeling zijnde afspraken voor uitwisseling van gegevens in het onderwijs wordt gebruik gemaakt van vocabulaires, zoals bijvoorbeeld in de leermateriaal metadata afspraak “Content-zoekprofiel” of “NL-LOM”, de Nederlandse afspraak voor Learning Object Metadata. Op deze website vind U de afspraken over en de eisen die gesteld worden aan vocabulaires om te worden beheerd door EduStandaard. Het doel van deze afspraken is om kwalitatief hoogwaardige vocabulaires te gebruiken in het onderwijsveld en om de mate van hergebruik van vocabulaires te vergroten.
